Walkin' On Sunshine

  The sun is beaming here in Jersey. It's bright, clear, and we have a forecasted high of 61!

  I'm nine days into my 'Eating for Life' plan. Cooking healthy meals from scratch and exercising daily. I'm not weighing myself, but I am losing inches!  I can fit nicely into pants that haven't fit into in almost a year and I have more energy throughout the day! 

 Last night I had an epiphany. After weeks of struggling to write the synopsis for book 2 of The Chameleon Chronicles, it finally clicked! I stopped fighting a gut instinct, reasoned out where my characters left off, and ... Ta-dah! Cyndi had brainstormed the entire series arc with me on our friend/writer getaway a couple months back, so I emailed her a rambling blurb and she emailed me back a thumbs up with bonus comments that tied things up. Finally, I can feel this story. Writing this dratted synopsis shouldn't be nearly as painful now that I actually have a plot.

I'm only two on-stage scenes in, but I am starting to see things come together. I might have a story! All the freewriting of back story is starting to play out! I didn't know if I'd ever get out of the quagmire with something in tact.

Aw, hell-- you know what I am going to say don't you. HELLO? I got an agent last week. Yes... and it is far from sinking into my thick skull.

And today? Well I am making progress on my rewrites (for said agent). I mean, I think I am. It is too early to tell the overall impact. But I am moving onward. And that is what matters!

And did I mention I am jealous you hit the 'spark' mode. Cause I need it for the remaining 200-odd pages I have left! ;-) Ha! Way to go girlie!

I am in the midst of my Hawaiian supernatural suspense thriller, doing the second draft/edit. I've gone through parts that I barely remember writing, and it's like, wow, good story, dude. But then I read on and suddenly something is happening based on something that hasn't happened yet. That's when I'm glad I kept an Excel spreadsheet of the story as part of my plotting process. It has the days and in some cases the times of the events. Of course, where I messed up was when I sailed into the final writing, which involved some 30,000 words or so in a week's time. But, thanks to the spreadsheet, going through and correcting the timeline was a snap. It's turned into one of those days you don't want to get out of the chair, eat, use the bathroom, answer the phone, nada. The zone.:P

Bob, I amy have to try that Excel spreadsheet thing. I recently read about someone else doing that. Of course first this tech goober needs to figure out how to make one. Heh. Do you use it just as a time line and plot points? Or for other things? Congratulations on making uch awesome progress on the WIP!

Beth, I use a line in the spreadsheet to trace the chapter number, the day, time, if appropriate, the location, and some notes about the main things that happen. In TKK, I've used longer chapters, so multiple things happen, so I use different lines or rows (going across) for each section, titling them 2a, 2b, etc. I also start a Word document of plotting stuff when i start out, but I find the spreadsheet easier to see the overall big picture. Nothing fancy, just filling in the squares.

It can get complex, though, like if you breakdown the 24 hours in the day per each character. Since most of what I write is sequential, I don't have to worry about that.

We moved. FINALLY. Seemed like forever after we sold the old house before we could move into our new one. It was one setback after the other, but we finally got moved in. Now I just have to find the rest of my stuff....
